How to get Google plus invitation ?

As the Google+ project home page suggested, I have entered my First Name and email id here to get Google+ invitation from Google whenever its available.

Is there any other way to get invitation for Google+ ? Please suggest.

Recently, the physical 'side lock' of my Motorola ROKR E6 got damaged. I had no option left than continue using the mobile without a proper lock.

The I found the iLock for Motorola ROKR E6 developed by Amith GC on motorolafans website. Its really cool and works like a charm.

Windows - screen-shot of Alt-Tab context switcher

I was trying to take the screen shot of the Widows Task Switcher (Alt-Tab) using Windows 'PrtSc' (Print Screen Key) .
But no luck. The time I press the 'PrtSc' key, alt tab 'Widows Task Switcher' vanishes.

Any idea how I can perform this using Window's PrtSc' ? Any tip/help will be really appreciated.

How to delete a follower from blogger blog

Recently when I was looking at the followers of one of my blog, I found a few of them to be spam and thought of removing them from the followers list.

This is how you can remove or block a follower from blogger:

- Go to your blogger home page . All your blogs will be listed in the page, also the number of followers in right side of each blog.

- Click on the 'followers' link which will show you all the list of followers.

- Identify the follower to block/delete. Click on it. Next to the name, you should see a 'Block this user' button.

A camera next to your friend's name in chat list mean that he or she is available for voice and video calls. And if you don't see a camera that means that your friend is not available for voice and video calls.

Extract Pictures from PowerPoint pps or ppt

This is how you can extract pictures embedded in the slides of Microsoft PowerPoint PPT or PPS.

Open "Microsoft Office PowerPoint", from File->Open , (Browse)open the pps or ppt.

Then save this ppt or pps as a HTML web page (Go to File->"Save As" and save it as type "Web Page, HTML").

So all the picture embedded in the PPT or PPS file will be stored in the local folder and you are done. Find your pictures from the local folder.

In the same way you can also extract audio sound file from PowerPoint pps, ppt.

Integrate WordWeb with Microsoft word - tip

WordWeb is a comprehensive English thesaurus and dictionary for Windows.

While working on Microsoft word, one can fetch the meaning of a word from WordWeb or can replace a word with one of its synonym from WordWeb in the following way:

First select the word you want to look up, then press the keyboard hotkey (default: Ctrl+Alt+W) or "Ctrl+right click" which will pop up WordWeb with the meaning of the word. There will be a Replace button on WordWeb window that you can press to paste in a selected synonym.






** This would require the WordWeb application to be running.

List all posts in blogger feed url

Default feed url such as http://all-mixed.blogspot.com/atom.xml or http://all-mixed.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default is not going to list all the posts in your blog.

To do so add the following query string at the end of the above urls

e.g.

http://all-mixed.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=499

will list first 500 blog posts from your blog.

Similarly

http://all-mixed.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=499

Replace "all-mixed" with your blog name above.

How to change robots.txt in blogger

When I started using Google webmaster tools , one day I got to see something like this:

URLs restricted by robots.txt : 24 urls

When I saw the details, then I came to know that most of the restricted urls are nothing but the "labels" I created on my blog. Did a lot of Google and finally I learnt that we cant change the robots.txt file in Blogger (unless we host our blog in our server).

The I looked at my rebots.txt (http://all-mixed.blogspot.com/robots.txt) which looks like this:

Disallow: /search

Sitemap: http://all-mixed.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated

So,
"Disallow: /search" seems to be fine as it just not going to index the search result pages (labels too), which are kind of duplicate (as individual post url is going to be indexed anyway, if no error)

** In the above default site map, the line
"User-agent: *" means that allow all types of user agents to index your blog content.

If the information I put above seems wrong, please correct me. thanks.

Blank page on blogger main page - blogger tip

Last day when I was posting a new entry on my bash scripting blog , I just got surprised when after publishing the post and navigating to the main page (from View Blog link) saw a blank page. I refreshed and its the same luck. Damn!! what I did.

I was a bit confused as the old posts were still listed on the sidebar, and there when I click on them. But in the main page, it was a blank page.

What I did ?

I just went to customized -> Posting -> Edit Posts tab and then edited the latest post and just did "Publish Post" without changing anything and this made my posts on homepage appear again.

Not sure if this trick helped me to get my main page again, or something happened just by luck. You can give a try ...

Clear Recently Closed Tabs - Firefox tip

What most people are not aware of is that even if one tell Firefox not to save browsing history, it is still possible to access the last 10 closed tabs (History->Recently Closed Tabs).

So to clear the "Recently Closed Tabs list", in Firefox address bar type about:config, and set the key browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo to 0.
